The first part of the castle theme (before it goes into the loop) sounds like Mussorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain mixed with the SMW main theme. The boss theme is a lot like "Please Don't Touch," an old Rock & Roll song famously covered in a collaboration between metal bands Girlschool and Motörhead. The first 8-note part of the castle theme sounds very similar to the iconic Twilight Zone theme song, more specifically, the closing notes. The music that plays when Mario/Luigi loses a life is basically the "E-I-E-I-O" portion of "Old MacDonald Had A Farm".The first ground theme is basically a speeded-up interpretation of Sentimental Journey (especially the Ringo Starr version). But then again, "Bringer of War" is a pretty appropriate theme for those levels. The similarities are even more obvious in the orchestrated version from Super Mario Galaxy. The Airship music is suspiciously similar to of Mars: The Bringer Of War from Holst's "The Planets" suite. This hook also appears as a Recurring Riff in the "Snowman's Land" music in Super Mario 64. The second ground theme heavily resembles the The Buggles' "Video Killed The Radio Star", especially the second half.In the Super Mario All-Stars remakes of the first game and The Lost Levels, the final Bowser battle theme is similar to the Macbeth theme from Star Fox.The underwater theme is very similar to the Waltz 5B section of Johann Strauss's "Blue Danube", and to a lesser extent Tchaikovsky's "Waltz of the Flowers" from The Nutcracker. The first six notes of the original theme is actually suspiciously similar to the Minsky Pickup. The castle theme sounds like Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's "Flight of the Bumblebee".Note: I haven't played Super Mario Sunshine yet, so that's why I didn't say if Super Mario Sunshines 100 coin missions are worse then Super Mario 64's. Overall, Super Mario Galaxy is a fantastic game with a beautiful soundtrack, great galaxies, and it has Luigi. Lastly, I completed this game as Mario a few months ago and I have yet to do it as Luigi. (There's a more then that because this game introduces Rosalina, but I'll save that when I get around to reviewing 3D Mario games). The story is Peach and her Castle gets Kidnapped by bowser and Mario must save her. As for the bosses, they're pretty easy especially Bowser. After you complete the game as Mario, you get to do it again with Luigi. Thankfully, they give you more then enough time to collect coins (Aka purple coins which is what their called for this and galaxy 2). By the way, some of the 100 coin missions have time limits. Some of them are in small galaxies and it doesn't take a while. They're not as bad as Super Mario 64, but the 100 coin missions are in large galaxies and it takes forever to grab them all. By the way, the 100 coin missions from Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine return and they still suck. Three of which aren't very useful besides The Red Star which you only use for one star out of 120. You also get some new power ups like the Ice Flower, the Bee Mushroom, The Spring Mushroom, and The Red Star. The level design is also better then Super Mario 64 even tho it's guilty of copying galaxy designs for later galaxies. For starters, the camera is a lot better then Super Mario 64 which means no more deaths due to the camera. As for the game itself, it's a hell of a lot better then Super Mario 64. Super Mario Galaxy's Soundtrack is incredible! Galaxy one goes for a orchestra and it freaking works! Unfortunately, the only way you can listen to it is this website and 3D all stars because of Nintendo being douchebags to their fans.
